Sekusile Co-operative Chairperson and members took to the streets of Durban on a peaceful march to the Durban City Hall with a memorandum for immediate attention of the Ethekwini Municipality Mayor’s Office demanding more than 4000 homes.
The entity brings forth what seems to be an old-age and ongoing issue of homelessness and disgruntlement claiming that the promise of 4 000 houses applied for and promised made through this office before the term of the current seating Mayor has dismally failed.
Sama Nkosi Secretary of the co-oporative said that she severally made her way to City Hall requesting the audience of Cllr Mayor Zandile Gumede but all her attempts proved futile. She further said: ”You can check my claims under their appointment registration book I go by the name Promise Nkosi, until today no one has contacted us”.
Sekusile Corporative Chairperson Mr Mkhize said, this is a peaceful march one that they hope will be well received by the Mayor’s office and that its main objective is to demonstrate the urgency to the matter of homelessness, and deprivation of a promise made.
Mr Ntombela, Advisor to Mayor Zandile Gumede received the memorandum and in an interview said, this is clearly an old matter which needs immediate attention and now that he has received the memorandum he will employ due diligence and return a response within 7 days.
