Durban Today: Ethekwini Municipality Commemorates World Aids Day 2018

Through the Universal Test and Treat UTT global community initiative and partnership, new infections and HIV related deaths have seen a decline since its initiation in 2015.
The Gender-Based Violence GBV orphan demon still remains the key element, yet continues to see no permanent adoption by Health, Social Economic Development or Law enforcement. Although Thuthuzela centre, found in various health institutions attempts a comprehensive approach involving relevant state organs such as the police it still falls short.
Ethekwini District graph on GBV shows that of the 1000 thousand women who suffer abuse quarterly, children under 12,years, old account for between 30 to 40%. KwaZulu Natal is the most burdened province with the HIV pandemic. Sadly, the number of persons living with HIV has increased from 7.2million to 7.8million.
