Midway Crossing Mall – Construction Phase comencement

The eThekwini Municipality’s Lindelani and Newlands Midway Crossing mall construction in partnership with Siveni investment officiates in a grand ceremony before community members, the city’s political and non-political officials, partners, and members of the media.

The Dumisani Makhaye node development is a public-private R700 million rand partnership investment divides 60/40% contributions by both entities with a whopping R400 million injected by Fundamentum Asset Management (FAM) and the balance of over R300 million by eThekwini Municipality.

Cllr Mayor Zandile Gumede said that this investment remains to be the city’s major economic game changer that will create employment for 600 people during construction phase set to end in October 2020 and 1000 permanent posts during its operation stage. She further observed the death of struggle icon Steve Biko, a fallen veteran who died on 12 September 1977 at 41 years.

Seasoned black partnered township developer and entrepreneurs of (FAM) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlos Correia said: “This investment you are a part of today is the biggest township investment ever made in South Africa. Ethekwini is the most progressive city in South Africa. I think what they do to encourage investment is great if you look at the infrastructure that has gone into the corridor between Pinetown to Bridge City known as the C3 corridor it is commendable.”

With just days to the country’s presidential election for the ruling party and in its province of the rule, Mayor Zandile Gumede encourages citizens to vote in numbers to forge to the polls on May 8th and vote for a movement that works.
